In-Person Psychotherapy in West Los Angeles for Sensitive Adults
About Maya
Hi! My name is Maya and I am endlessly fascinated by our shared and unique human experience. Outside the therapy room I enjoy many forms of movement including dancing, walking, and pilates (I was even a PE teacher once!). I find that our physical bodies—our strengths, achievements, pains, and injuries—are a a great metaphor for our emotional and mental landscape. Just as our physical pain can tell us something is wrong, so too can our emotional pain. Sometimes it’s something that needs to be fixed, addressed, or acknowledged in some way, and sometimes the pain is telling us to slow down, rest, and take care of ourselves.
In the therapy process I meet my clients where they are and guide them gently towards healing and growth. I welcome the awkward, the uncomfortable, the weird, the stuff that makes you feel alone. I will listen to you with empathy and curiosity so I can understand you and create a safe space for you to say and feel the painful and unpleasant things. My goal is to go with you to those hard, painful places and offer support, comfort, and understanding, then help you move through an out as you grow a new sense of self-worth, security, and trust in yourself and others.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. As a therapist, I have worked with individuals, families and children in various clinical and educational settings. I work through a relational, humanistic, systemic, and existential lens. I approach my work as a therapist with open-minded, non-pathologizing curiosity.
